About MeMy name is Sierra Gallagher and I go to Kamehameha Schools. For my World History class we are doing a project called Kahiau: Leadership in Action. My partner Mackenzie and I decided to chose Relay for Life Kamehameha to help raise money to support many peoples fight against cancer. We will raise the money by selling various food items to family and friends at our school, Kamehameha, and around our neighborhood. This project is important to me because my cousin Keaton lost his battle to cancer and Relay for life can give us an opportunity to support others are still fighting.

Week One
This week we started our project. First, Mackenzie and I chose our topic, and how we are going to contribute to it. We decided that we would sell various food items to donate to Relay for life. This weekend we will bake, or buy snacks to sell to our friends, family, neighborhood, and school.
Week FourThis week we started asking for donations and got $10 total in donations.I am going to work on baking this weekend for week 5 to increase the amount that we can donate. My goal for the next two week is to raise about $30-$40 from selling and donations from friends and family. Also I started working on our brochure for our presentation.

Week Two
This week Mackenzie and I were on a volleyball trip so we were not able to do much besides deciding what we would sell, which is cookies, brownies and candy. We recently found out that we are not allowed to sell in school, so we are going to sell outside of school in our neighborhood. We will start selling next week (week 3) and record how much we are making.
Week FiveThis week I sold cookies, brownies, and banana bread to my neighbors and I raised a total of $15. Hopefully next week I will be able to raise the same amount, and more people will donate. I think if we were able to sell at school we would be more successful but every dollar helps. For the most part I think this project is going well, and in the end everything will turn out fine. I was also able to finish the brochure, and help with the presentation.

Week Three
This week Mackenzie and I started selling our snacks that we made and asking for donations. We made about $10 from selling since we cannot sell at school and we have busy schedules outside of school. Since selling wasn't very successful we are going to ask for donations instead of selling baked goods.
Week 6This week we continued to sell brownies, cookies, and banana bread. We also continued to ask for donations. We raised a total of __
I think we were pretty successful with this project. I know we could have raised more if we could sell in school but its okay that we couldn't because there were other ways for us to raise money. This week we also worked on out powerpoint and brochure. We finished both of them, and will present next week. Lastly we turned in our donation to Relay for Life Kamehameha. |
